Kumbalam Grama Panchayat – Annual Plan

The Annual Plan of Kumbalam Grama Panchayat is a comprehensive action framework designed to implement the Panchayat’s development objectives and public welfare initiatives. Prepared with active public participation in accordance with the guidelines of the State Planning Board and the Department of Local Self Government, the plan is formulated by considering the needs and priorities of various sectors within the Panchayat.

The primary objective of the Annual Plan is to improve the quality of life of the residents and ensure sustainable development within the Panchayat. To achieve this, priority is given to sectors such as drinking water supply, road development, street lighting, public health, sanitation, waste management, education, agricultural development, fisheries sector advancement, women’s empowerment, youth development, welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and welfare schemes for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

As Kumbalam is situated along the Vembanad Backwaters, special emphasis is also placed on environmental conservation, water body protection, coastal conservation, and biodiversity management. Various development activities are implemented in convergence with government initiatives such as the Haritha Keralam Mission, Suchitwa Keralam Mission, LIFE Housing Scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), and the activities of the Haritha Karma Sena.

Projects and development initiatives are selected based on suggestions received from Gram Sabhas, discussions held during development seminars, and recommendations made by various working groups. This participatory approach ensures that development activities are aligned with the actual needs and aspirations of the local community.

Built upon the four key pillars of social justice, economic development, environmental protection, and infrastructure development, the Annual Plan of Kumbalam Grama Panchayat serves as a vital planning document that promotes the overall development of the Panchayat and enhances the well-being of its residents.
