The Health & Education Standing Committee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring initiatives related to public health, education, sanitation, nutrition, disease prevention, and community awareness within the Grama Panchayat.

•         Coordination with Primary Health Centres and other health institutions

•         Coordination with Government and Aided Schools

•         Promotion of early childhood, primary, and continuing education

•         Monitoring Anganwadi services and nutrition programmes

•         Organizing health and educational awareness campaigns

•         Supporting maternal, child, and adolescent health programmes

Powers and Duties

As the Chairperson of the Health & Education Standing Committee, the following powers and responsibilities are entrusted:

Administrative Functions

•         Preside over meetings of the Health & Education Standing Committee.

•         Lead discussions on matters relating to health and education.

•         Monitor the implementation of Committee decisions.

•         Submit recommendations and proposals to the Panchayat Committee.

Health and Education Functions

•         Lead the preparation of annual health and education action plans.

•         Coordinate with health institutions, ASHA workers, Anganwadis, and educational institutions.

•         Promote public health, sanitation, and preventive healthcare initiatives.

•         Support programmes aimed at improving educational standards and student welfare.

•         Review the implementation of National and State Health Missions and educational programmes.

Public Participation and Coordination

•         Engage with Grama Sabhas to identify local health and educational priorities.

•         Coordinate with the Health Department, Education Department, Kudumbashree, and other stakeholders.

•         Promote a healthy, educated, and socially responsible community through participatory governance.
