As the Chairman of the Welfare Standing Committee, the following powers and responsibilities are entrusted:
Administrative Functions
- Preside over meetings of the Welfare Standing Committee.
- Provide leadership in identifying and placing welfare-related matters before the Committee.
- Monitor the implementation of Committee decisions and recommendations.
- Submit recommendations and proposals to the Panchayat Committee for consideration and approval.
Welfare and Development Functions
- Lead the preparation of annual welfare and development plans.
- Facilitate the identification of eligible beneficiaries under various welfare schemes.
- Review and evaluate the progress of welfare programmes and projects.
- Address public grievances and recommend appropriate remedial measures.
Public Participation and Coordination
- Engage with Grama Sabhas to understand local needs and priorities.
- Coordinate with government departments, agencies, elected representatives, and community organizations.
- Promote inclusive development and social justice through participatory governance.
